Pittsburgh Interfaith Impact Network (PIIN)
For 2012, the Religious (Social) Action committee is exploring, with the help of PIIN, to identify social action issues that are of interest to the members of Temple David. We will be contacting congregants to meet in small groups to gather opinions of issues at interest. The issues have previously been addressed by other religious communities, PIIN, or by Temple David. The first contact will be after January 1 and the presentation to the congregation will be the weekend of March 2. The issues collected will be presented by the end of May. We hope that this will spark interest in the area of Social Action.
Twinning on January 15
January 15 will bring together members of the Muslim Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh and members of Temple David. On this date there will be a fund raiser for the local food banks. A flier is enclosed and more information is to follow. The two communities will come together on Thursday January 12 to prepare the soup at the Muslim Center, 233 Seaman Lane, Monroeville. We are calling out all our wonderful cooks to help with this project.
The soup will be served Jan 15 at Temple David. Local community leaders and Interfaith Ministerium members will also be invited. Please help make this a successful event.
Monthly Energy-Saving Tidbit
“Energy efficient Windows”
Anyone who lives in an older home has been or will be faced with the prospect of installing new windows. With old windows, we suffer from humidity, drafts, cold windows in winter, and hot windows in summer. Today we can purchase new highly-insulating windows that improve thermal comfort, reduce ultraviolet fading of furniture, and cut down on exterior noise.
So if the price for energy-efficient windows is making you cringe, remember that the price you are paying is an investment that will be paid back in utility bill savings for years to come.

PLEASE DO NOT leave any clothes for donation at the temple. The local shelters are not accepting donations at the moment. Most shelters want clothing X-Large or above.
